Kurt’s connection to Lawrence began when his maternal grandparents came to the city from Lithuania to work in the mills and build a better life for their future family. They relocated to Connecticut, but regular trips to Lawrence to visit relatives were part of his growing up. After three decades of working in higher education in Pennsylvania, he finds it somewhat serendipitous to have relocated in the town next door to this place that holds so much family history.
Kurt has worked in higher education administration for over 40 years. His senior management responsibilities have included strategic enrollment planning, student recruitment and admission, student retention, financial aid, marketing communications, student life, intercollegiate athletics, and alumni relations.
He is excited about the opportunity to work with YDO students and their families to create intentional guided pathways leading to successful attainment of postsecondary educational goals ranging from technical certificates to associate degrees to baccalaureate degrees, and beyond.
Kurt graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Interdisciplinary Philosophy from Barrington College (now Gordon College) and received an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Vermont. He attended the Institute of Educational Management, Harvard University Graduate School of Education in 1992. He held leadership appointments for 18 years at Muhlenberg College and 9 at Bucknell University. He has served as an enrollment consultant to a variety of higher education clients.
