2018: Our Biggest YDO Summer Yet (Again!)

08.04.18

YDO Summer is an engaging academic program and a unique leadership development opportunity: designed and delivered by kids, for kids. This year’s program broke all YDO records, with 160 students in Grades 3-8 and a staff of 52 high school and college students (namely fellow YDO Kids).

Under the leadership of rising Denison College Posse Scholar Youssef Bourouphael (CCHS ’18) and Jasmine De La Cruz (GLTS ’19)–our YDO Summer co-directors–the student staff designed and delivered 31 different project-based classes, four days a week, for five weeks. The program concluded with an August 2nd exhibition, at which every student showcased summer course projects and were celebrated by the larger YDO community.

This year’s summer offerings included:

STEM: Chemistry, Physics, SolidWorks, Coding, R/C Cars, Circuit Workshop, Tools & Building, LEGO Robotics, Math, First Aid, Video Game Design, Astronomy, Kinesiology, Forensics, Bio/Anatomy

Arts: Ceramics, Painting, Drawing, Crafts, Fashion/Cosmo, Team Building, Writing, Music, Singing, Dance, Acting, Tumbling, STEP, Photography, Film Making, Responsible Social Media
