High School Prep
Middle schoolers, and their families, count on YDO for guidance and support as they plan for high school—public, independent, or parochial.
HSP prepares YDO Kids for a successful transition to high school. In 7th Grade, students join the program, meeting weekly as a class and working individually with YDO’s director of upper school transitions. This collaboration continues over the summer and intensifies in 8th Grade as students submit applications, receive admissions offers, secure scholarships and aid, and make decisions.
Along the way, HSP participants take classes focused on academic readiness, with an emphasis on algebra and creative writing. Throughout the process, students and parents alike are informed and supported.
The individualized guidance continues as YDO Kids matriculate to high school. We offer meetings and check-ins to promote a smooth transition and a successful freshman year.
Today, HSP graduates are excelling at high schools around the region, including Abbott Lawrence Academy, St. Paul’s School, Phillips Academy Andover, Lawrence High School, Northfield Mount Hermon, Brooks School, Notre Dame Cristo Rey, Greater Lawrence Technical School, Pingree School, Belmont Hill School, and Central Catholic.
