Don Rhine

Director of STEM Programs

Don joined the YDO team in January 2023. His career has spans 35 years across education, industry, and the military, and his passion for STEM is infectious. He brings a commitment to excellence, and, as a teacher, a dedication to helping students build knowledge and skills along with the capacity to successfully apply them.

Don is an accomplished public high school leader and classroom teacher of subjects including math, physics, astronomy, and engineering. He has served as an adjunct professor at UMass Lowell (in the Electrical Engineering, Computer Science departments) and as Director of the UMass Lowell TEAMS Academy. Before his move to education, he was in business, including as an international accounting firm executive and a banking consultant. Don began his career in the United States Air Force. As a captain, his roles included serving as technical projects director in the 315th Intelligence Squadron.

Don is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (B.S., Electrical Engineering), of UMass Lowell (M.S., Electrical Engineering), of University of Rochester Simon Graduate School of Business Administration (MBA, dual major Accounting & Corporate Finance), and of Boston University (Improving the Instruction of Physics program).
