Nurilys Cintron
Associate Director of Storytelling
Nurilys joined YDO as a Volunteer Staff member for the Performing Project in the summer of 2012 at the age of 14. They were cast in the show and mentored other students through their journey as performers. Nurilys then volunteered their Senior year at YDO, teaching creative writing and theater workshops to middle school students, until they graduated and left the nest to travel the world on Semester at Sea in 2015. Nurilys attended college at Northern Essex Community College ‘19, and Southern Connecticut State University ‘20. They graduated with a Bachelor’s in Communication with a concentration in Film, TV, & Digital Production. They have a lot of experience in performing, teaching, and mentoring inner city youth and providing enriching experiences with and for the community of Lawrence. At YDO, they currently oversee social media accounts, film and edit our short films, & they are the department head of Performing Arts. They directed their first musical with 40 YDO students and 15 staff in the summer of 2024.
